Guard
Marching Saints Colorguard
The visual auxilliary or colorguard component of the Marching Saints
incorporate a broad variety of general effect elements like dance, flags,
sabres, rifles, and other props to enhance the performance of the band.
This is a highly dedicated group of performers who compete along side
the Marching Saints. By contributing to the overall success of our
program, the colorguard has earned high accolades at numerous competitions
and superior ratings at FBA.
Membership Information
As a member of the sandalwood band, all the guard is expected to attend
all practices, games and competitions. You will be expected to uphold
all the traditions of excellence that are put before you. You are also
expected to follow all the rules of the band and follow the rules of
the leadership of the band. All attendance is included in your grade
for the class.
Rehearsals: Tuesday 5:30-9:10pm, Wednesday 2:30-4:45pm, Thursday 6:00-9:10pm,
Extra Rehearsals may be necessary
Performances: All Friday night games, Saturday competitions to be announced
(usually 4)
Pre Season Training: (mandatory) Aug 4-6 @ 3pm-9pm, Aug 7 8am-5pm
Rookies will be required to attend “Rookie Camp” June 1-
June 11 and July 28- Aug 3 (Mon-Fri) from 9:00AM-4:00PM
FALL COST(only):$325 includes: uniform fee, shoes, gloves,uniform cleaning,
flag rental, and all marching band travel arrangements for fall.
Sandalwood Shade
The Sandalwood Shade is an actively competitive indoor guard. Their
season typically runs from January to April, with some instructional
camps during the Winter break. This performing group has consistently
received Superior ratings at Florida Bandmasters’ Association events.
They are also active in professional guard organizations, Winter Guard
International (www.wgi.org) and the Florida Federation
of Colorguards Circuit (www.ffcc.org). In 2003,
the Sandalwood Shade received the Gold Medal in Scholastic Class B at
the FFCC Championships, and placed first in class at all the regional
competitions during that season. In 2004, the Shade were promoted to
Scholastic Class AAA and won the Silver Medal at FFCC Championships on
April 3.
The Sandalwood Shade supports two competitive ensembles, with the second
group typically aimed at development and fundamental repertoire. The
second Shade ensemble received a Superior rating for their District 17
Florida Bandmasters’ Association festival performance.
